Canada's Military has a rich tradition of Surveying, Map Reproduction and GIS Technology spanning over 100 years. Canada's soldiers braved the north to survey its most remote mountain peaks, to develop maps still used accurately today.
The Army Survey Establishment (ASE) moved into the Surveys and Mapping Building at 615 Booth Street in early 1961 and was re-named the Mapping and Charting Establishment (MCE) in 1966.
MCE is now scheduled to move out of Booth Street in the summer/fall of 2020 and relocate at two sites at Tunney’s Pasture and Bentley Ave. This will mark nearly 60 years of proud military mapping service to Canada, the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Armed Forces.
To commemorate this historical occasion, an official parade, farewell celebration and reunion is planned for Friday 12 June 2020 in honour of all serving military members, civilian employees, and retired members of the ASE/MCE military mapping community.
